When an Austrian hunter was hurt after a fall, his faithful pet dog sprung into action to save his life, it has been reported.
Albert Hoffman, a 59-year-old from Gutau in upper Austria, fell 20 feet out of a tree when he was bird hunting, according to Ananova.
Mr Hoffman was left with severe injuries to his back and a punctured lung, making it impossible for him to find help or move to safety.
However, he did have his pet labrador with him and he called for the dog to fetch his mobile phone from his backpack, which allowed him to ring for help.
A spokesman for the local emergency services told the website: "His dog is a real hero.
"He was in the middle of nowhere and with the injuries he had if he had not called us soon he could have died."
According to dogbreedinfo.com, labradors are known for their loyalty and often form close bonds with their owners. They also enjoy games such as fetching, which makes them popular with hunters.
