Campaign to recognise the Jindo - Insurance for dogs

South Korean dog lovers are trying to get their national hound recognised across the world, it has been reported.
The Jindo is hardly known abroad due to the country's strict laws on exporting the dog, because it is regarded as national treasure, according to Reuters.
Due to this, owners often find they cannot show their dog in competitions as the breed is not recognised by many clubs.
Julie Soojung Lee, an official with Samsung who helped in the international marketing of the Jindo dog, revealed that the firm has been working with the South Korean government to promote the Jindo.
"Our indigenous breed was not recognised anywhere in the world except Korea. We felt that it was time that something was done about it," she told the news agency.
Because of the campaign, the Kennel Club now recognises the breed, although the dog still cannot be entered into Crufts and is awaiting recognition from the American Kennel Club.
According to dogbreedinfo.com, the Jindo looks like a small akita and was originally bred to hunt animals ranging from rodents to deer.
