Blue Cross calls for more pet adoptions - Pet insurance

A leading animal charity has called for more people to adopt pets from its centres.
Speaking to BBC Radio Devon's Richard Green programme, Tim Sillis, manager of the Blue Cross' Torbay cat adoption centre, revealed a lack of volunteers means that the centre is constantly full.
"We can take up to about 50 cats at one time - sometimes it can push up to 70 if we've got mums and kittens onsite," he explained.
Mr Sillis also said the centre had a waiting list of animals waiting to be admitted and called for more volunteers to re-home a pet.
Last Sunday (June 6th), the Blue Cross held an animal-themed service at St Marys Church in Thirsk.
The animals were joined by Jim Wight, retired Thirsk vet, whose parents James 'Herriot' Wight and Joan Danbury were married in the church in 1941.
During the service, the pets were blessed by Reverend Nick Bird and more than £80 was donated to the charity.
