A disabled woman has praised her helper dog for letting her regain her confidence, it has been reported.
Susi Rogers-Hartley, who was left with little feeling below her waist after an accident on an assault course, was paired with golden labrador Lex six years ago, according to the Norwich Evening News.
Before receiving the dog from charity Canine Partners, Ms Rogers-Hartley was housebound and "very introverted".
"When I got Lex everything changed. He brings me a lot of confidence. He helps with the practical side and the emotional side," she told the newspaper.
The dog can understand over 100 commands from his owner and helps her with tasks such as dressing, doing the laundry and retrieving her medication when it is time to take it.
Ms Rogers-Hartley also revealed the dog had given her the confidence to take up horse-riding again, after being forced to give up the activity due to her accident.
Canine Partners trains dogs to help people with disabilities gain greater independence and quality of life and has placed more than 140 dogs since it started in 1991.
