A six-foot python has been discovered in an Australian toilet, it has emerged, and is believed to be a missing pet.
The serpent was discovered in a tenth-floor apartment in Darwin and was rescued by local snake wrangler Chris Peberdy, reports the Northern Territory News.
He said the python is probably an escaped pet of someone else in the building, but claimed it could have been living in the pipes of the apartment for some time.
"When I saw it I was pretty shocked. It's one thing in the territory to have a green frog in the toilet, but not a six-foot python," he told the news provider.
Mr Peberdy also said if someone had spotted the snake they could have suffered a heart attack or killed the snake, and warned pet owners to ensure their animals cannot escape from their cages.
Indian pythons can grow to reach 30 feet long and live off a diet of birds and small mammals, but have been known to eat leopards and deer, according to earthsendangered.com.
