Another dog has needed surgery after eating socks, it has been reported.
Last week, the Wolverhampton Express and Star revealed that a pet in the town was operated on after munching on two of owner Julie Belton's socks.
In the latest incident, Staffordshire bull terrier Loui was taken to the vets after swallowing a pair of knee-length Ann Summers socks, according to the Sunderland Echo.
Although it is not known if the pet was covered by insurance for dogs, Loui was operated on by PDSA vet at the Newcastle Ann Coleman Centre hospital to remove the hosiery, after he started losing weight and vomiting.
Speaking to the newspaper about the incident, owner Nicola Baldwin said she couldn't believe it when she saw the X-rays showing the dog had eaten her best pair of socks.
"We think he must have got them from the wash basket or from a shelf, so now I make sure I don't leave anything lying around," she continued.
"I check and triple-check that there is nothing he can get a hold of," Ms Baldwin concluded.
