Pet passports to rise - Pet insurance

The number of pet passports issued in the UK is expected to rise, it has been reported.
According to the Sun, there were 49,910 passports issued last year under the Pets Travel Scheme, with authorities believing more owners than ever will take their animals abroad with them this year.
Pets which are registered under the scheme are able to travel to most countries in western Europe and Scandinavia without being put into quarantine, meaning they can enjoy breaks with their owners.
Bee Scott, of Wandsworth, told the newspaper she got a pet passport for her King Charles Cavalier puppy Coco because she did not want to leave the animal behind when she goes travelling.
"Coco often comes to Toulouse, she enjoys travelling with us and she loves it when she comes to visit our second home," she said.
Pets Travel Scheme passports are available from veterinary practices or direct from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Yesterday, cruise line Stena urged pet owners to take their animals on holiday with them to avoid causing 'separation anxiety' in their animals.
