Council tries to re-home dogs - Cheap pet insurance

Swindon council is calling on potential pet owners to help re-home the town's stray dogs, it has been reported.
People who are thinking about buying a pet dog have been asked to visit the council's pounds instead as it is running out of room for strays, according to ThisisWiltshire.co.uk.
The pound can only house 14 dogs at a time, leading officials to fear they may have to start destroying unclaimed animals.
Alison Waine, the council's animal welfare officer, explained that some council's put dogs down after eight days - the minimum time allowed by law.
"Swindon isn't like that - we haven't had to put a dog down for years and we don't want to be in that situation," she told the newspaper.
However, Ms Waine said a range of factors, such animals being too expensive to keep or bought as unwanted Christmas presents, meant the council is seeing an increase in the number of dogs they have to look after.
Last week, the Daily Mail reported that Jenny, a border collie, was successfully re-homed after spending 11 years in an animal centre.
