Addresses important in pet insurance

A postcode lottery exists in pet insurance which could benefit owners depending on where they live.
Fluxpet has revealed that it, as well as some other companies, takes into account where a person lives alongside the age and breed of pet when deciding on the cost of insurance premiums.
According to the firm, this approach has enabled it to offer people in many areas much cheaper rates and Julie Carter from the company insists the address of an animal is "at least as significant" as more common factors such as age and breed in terms of costs.
By checking the figures for claims, companies have discovered that the cost of claims varies considerably depending on where a pet lives, which appears to be down to a range of factors.
"The reason appears to be a combination of the local environment - levels of air pollution, car traffic and so on - and wide variances in vet charges from region to region," Ms Carter explained.
