Pet competition offers cheap insurance for owners

Increasing competition in the pet insurance market is paying dividends for owners as companies are pushing more into their pet business.
Insurers are now offering a wider array of alternative and complementary medical treatments for animals in the UK than ever before and a new report has suggested that pet policies can cover anything from hydrotherapy, to acupuncture and herbal remedies.
A recent report from Datamonitor highlighted the value of the cat and dog insurance market alone, but it has now revealed that owners are taking more care of their pets than ever before.
Companies are now responding to that increase in demand and are offering many more alternative therapies as part of their cover than has previously been seen.
However, despite the increased value such coverage can bring to UK owners, relatively few actually take out insurance on their animals.
Insurance firms are now warning owners again that they should seriously consider taking out insurance, especially as the boom in alternative medicines for animals is pushing up veterinary bills across the country.
