Women are 'less likely to be involved in car crashes'
Posted :23-04-2007
Females are less likely than males to be involved in a car crash, new research has found, in news that may be of interest to those looking for car insurance for women.
According to the World Health Organisation's Youth and Road Safety, road crashes cause the highest number of deaths of people aged between ten and 24 years old, with males more likely to be injured or killed in an accident "from a young age".
The study found males are three times as likely to have a crash, which is believed to be because they are more inclined to drive than women due to social and cultural reasons, the report states.
It also suggests males may be more inclined to take risks while behind the wheel.
A number of car insurance companies currently offer car insurance quotes for women, although policy premiums are also calculated using factors such as the make and model of the vehicle and the number of penalty points held by the driver.
