Women's insurance 'can give better rates'
Posted :06-07-2007
Women's insurance policies could enable females to pay less for their cover and receive more competitive quotes, it was claimed this week.
Andrew Paddick, director general of the Institute of Insurance Brokers, said that although there are many lady driver insurance policies on the market, females with a good driving record can receive better rates than males.
However, he added that this depends on the woman being the sole driver of the vehicle, for if a man was also behind the wheel, this could negate and discounts or benefits of such a policy.
Mr Paddick explained why women driver insurance has the potential to offer better prices.
"Lady drivers, by and large, are less aggressive drivers than males between 17 and 35 or 40, they tend to be a bit more careful."
Other variables on which quotes are sometimes calculated include any previous motoring convictions and the engine size of the vehicle.
