Men 'responsible for more accidents'

Male drivers constitute over 90 per cent of dangerous driving convictions, a women's car insurance firm has stated, citing industry figures.

Sheila's Wheels, which specialises in providing cheap car insurance for women, said that men make up 94 per cent of all convictions involving bodily harm or fatalities, while also causing more motorway pile-ups.

Spokesperson Niki Bolton suggested a number of factors as to why women might incur less expensive motor insurance claims.

"Women tend to drive fewer miles, close to home and have minor, low-speed accidents," she remarked.

The news may be of interest to female drivers looking for lady driver insurance quotes, as they are potentially able to find less expensive policies than those of their male counterparts.

Other specialised types of insurance can include horse insurance and caravan insurance.
