Women drivers 'ruder than men'
Posted :13-07-2007
Women drivers have been found to be ruder than men when behind the wheel, according to a new survey.
The news, which may affect those looking for women's car insurance, found females were more likely to shout insults at other drivers than their male counterparts.
In research conducted by BMW, 46 per cent of women said they made a polite gesture when let into a line of traffic, although this was topped by the men at 48 per cent, the Sun reports.
And ladies are also more likely to call other motorists "idiots" than males - which might not be the ideal way to address someone when collecting their details for a car insurance claim.
The survey also found that drivers have now taken to flashing their hazard lights briefly to acknowledge a polite gesture from another driver - but BMW said that flashing the vehicle's headlights may be taken as an expression of anger.
Ladies looking for women's car insurance could check online, although they will also be required to give a number of other details to get a quote, such as the make and model of their car.
