More women 'choosing convertibles'
Posted :30-07-2007
The number of women's car insurance customers choosing to get behind the wheel of a convertible has trebled in the past ten years, it has been discovered.
According to women's car insurance company Diamond, the rise in top-down popularity has seen the south-east of the UK become the region where most female convertible drivers are, while Scotland has the lowest amount.
Managing director of the firm Sian Lewis said that the 206cc was the first car which "started the craze" for affordable convertibles, taking over as the best loved model from the Mazda MX-5, which was the most popular from 1999 to 2005.
"Now the battle seems to be which car has the fastest automatic folding roof," she added.
However, those that do choose a top-down car may be interested to know that drivers of convertibles were found to be more likely to have made a car insurance claim and have a conviction than those behind the wheel of a non-convertible.
Women looking for suitable car insurance may find cheaper quotes online or from a lady driver insurance provider.
