Biba: Always shop around for car insurance

Shopping around for car insurance is key to getting a good deal no matter what sex you are, an expert in the industry has claimed.

Graeme Trudgill, technical services manager for the British Insurance Brokers' Assciation (Biba), said that although females can find cheaper women's car insurance deals, it is "always" worth looking at different policies to find the best price.

And while the European Union recently noted the potential unfairness of gender-based price discrimination, Mr Trudgill said that car insurance was based on risk and it is widely believed that women present a lower risk.

"Certainly, it does seem to be the facts, if the stats prove it," he added.

"At the end of the day, whether you're male or female … always shop around for your insurance."

Biba represents the interest of both customers, intermediaries and brokers.
