Women 'research car insurance for two hours'
Posted :09-10-2007
The average woman spends two hours and seven minutes researching car insurance before choosing which provider to go with, a recent study has suggested.
Research by Sheila's Wheels has examined how personal finances, especially car insurance, fit into the priorities of women and discovered that the figure is only 23 minutes less than the average time spent finding the perfect Christmas party dress.
Jacky Brown, spokesperson for the insurer, stated: "It is interesting that women are now giving serious time and consideration to their insurance purchases and effectively 'window shopping' policies via company websites and increasingly, price comparison sites."
Word of mouth was identified as the most influential form of research carried out by women.
And the study indicated that some 41 per cent of females take sole responsibility for managing household finances and only 16 per cent leave it up to their partners.
The latest AA British Insurance Premium Index states that the average quoted premium index for comprehensive insurance rose to £833.56 over the past three months.
